Desert-Aire
is one of Washington's fastest growing communities. Located in Grant County with a population of 1,124, Desert Aire has been labeled "The Palms Spring" of Washington State and "The Sweet Spot in the Desert" due to the fact that it receives over 300 days of sunshine per year. The community is located next to Priest Rapid Lake (formed by the Priest Rapids Dam) on the Columbia River. Because Desert Aire is located in an area rich in Native American history and due to early planning before the community was developed, Desert Aire was able to be developed in a way that preserved the natural balance between man and nature. One of the most impressive features of Desert Aire is its 18-hole championship golf course. The course was designed and built just for the residents of Desert Aire. Due to the excellent weather that Desert Aire receives, there is a host of outdoor activities available. Residents and visitors enjoy camping, jogging, bicycling, golf and tennis. On the 8,000 acre Priest Rapid Lake you can enjoy many water sports such as boating, water skiing, jet skiing, rafting, swimming, and fishing.

Desert Aire Weather & Climate

The Central Washington desert basin has some of the hottest temperatures in Washington during the summer and is one of the driest places in the state, being located in the rain shadow of the Cascades. Average temperatures in July are a maximum of 91 and a minimum of 64. In January, the average maximum is 40 and the minimum is 26. Rainfall averages only 7 inches per year and the average snowfall is 6 inches. Rainfall is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year. In mid-summer though, it is not unusual for a month or six weeks to pass without any measurable rainfall. The wettest month of the year is December with an average rainfall of 1.19 Inches.
