Bremerton
is the largest city on the Kitsap Peninsula with a population of 37,259. Bremerton is a safe and clean community within an hour's ferry ride from downtown Seattle. Bremerton is home of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. The USS Turner Joy, a navy destroyer, is a naval memorial museum is moored in the harbor's shipyard. Downtown Bremerton has been going through a revitalization with art galleries, the Admiral Theatre, Transportation Center, Kitsap Conference Center and a new hotel on the city's waterfront and many quaint shops and restaurants. Downtown also has three museums within walking distance of the ferries. Bremerton was recently ranked as one of the future hot spots among cities with under 250,000 residents by Money Magazine and the eighth-best place in the West to live among cities with a population of 100,000 to 249,999. The community has a great sense of pride in the city's park system which offer visitors picnic grounds, ball fields and one of the nation's best golf courses, the Gold Mountain Municipal course.

Northwest Washington , near the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands, has a fairly temperate climate. The temperature of the salt water surrounding the islands doesnft vary greatly throughout the seasons, so it helps cool the air surrounding the islands. Northwest Washington experiences frequent cloud cover, fog and drizzle. Misty morning will be followed by partial clearing and occasional showers. An umbrella always comes in handy. Evenings are usually warm with a light ocean breeze. Temperatures range from low 30s in winter to mid 80s in summer. Coastal conditions are generally much more harsh than those in the Puget Sound.
