Indianola
is a small community located on the Kitsap Peninsula in northwest Washington. It's situated on the north shore of Port Madison on the Port Madison Indian Reservation, home of the Suquamish Indian Tribe. As of the 2000 census, the population of was 3,026. Indianola began as a summer weekend community in 1916, with access to it by steamboat only. It has a beautiful beach with a long dock that is a local landmark. Stargazers consider it to be one of the best places in the region to watch celestial events since it juts hundreds of feet out into the water. Indianola also has a popular candy store, a small community center, country store and post office. The Kitsap Peninsula is an arm of land that is part of the larger Olympic Peninsula in the Puget Sound. Called the "Natural Side of the Puget Sound," Kitsap is situated between the exciting cities of Seattle and Tacoma and lush rain forests and the Pacific Coast beaches of the Olympic Peninsula. The region offers more than 300 miles of shoreline, world-class golf, hiking trails and all sorts of other recreational sports. The peninsula is filled with charming communities, such as Indianola, that boast galleries and art walks, farmers' markets, regional fairs, rodeos and parades. It's truly an adventurous area with unparallel scenery and lots to do for everyone.

Northwest Washington , near the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands, has a fairly temperate climate. The temperature of the salt water surrounding the islands doesnft vary greatly throughout the seasons, so it helps cool the air surrounding the islands. Northwest Washington experiences frequent cloud cover, fog and drizzle. Misty morning will be followed by partial clearing and occasional showers. An umbrella always comes in handy. Evenings are usually warm with a light ocean breeze. Temperatures range from low 30s in winter to mid 80s in summer. Coastal conditions are generally much more harsh than those in the Puget Sound.
