Birch-Bay
is located approximately 100 miles north of Seattle and about 50 miles south of Vancouver, BC Canada. Birch Bay is the fastest growing community in Whatcom County. Birch Bay is also 20 miles north of Bellingham, Washington but gets 25% less rain annually. During the summer, Birch Bay draws quite a few visitors from across the United States and Canada for world class golf courses and many smaller courses in and around Birch Bay. Among the many activities to do in Birch Bay, clamming and crabbing is one of the most popular for families and sports enthusiasts. Children can spend many hours building sand castles and other sculptures when the tide is out. Exploring the beach by beach walking can be fun and great exercise. When the tide is out, you can walk all around the bay on the tide flats. Birch Bay State Park is a popular place to camp and tends to fill up fast during the summer months. The park features 8,255 feet of beachfront for clamming, crabbing, swimming, beachcombing, boating and fishing. Another popular activity is bird watching. The area is home to many resident birds such as the Great Blue Heron as well as other migrating birds during the winter months.

Northwest Washington , between Semiahmoo Bay and Lumnai Bay, there is a body of water called Birch Bay. The climate in this area is temperate and greatly influenced by the Pacific Ocean. It's generally mild, often referred to as "The Banana Belt of the Northwest." Although the rainy season can last as long as eight months, it is usually about six months long, leaving the area with a late spring and mild, pleasant summer. Many long weeks of short and cloudy days are commonplace in winter. Summers are quite dry however. This region is occasionally subject to unusual and harsh weather due to an upper level trough that drives down cold Arctic air from the Canadian interior. This cold air mass can collide with a Gulf of Alaska cold front and create high winds, ice, snow, or heavy rains.
