Seaview is an unincorporated community in Pacific County Washington. It is in the extreme southwest corner of the state on Long Beach Peninsula. As of the 2000 census, the population of Seaview was 516 residents. The town grew up around the Ilwaco Railway and Navigation Company, a narrow gauge railroad that ran up the Long Beach Peninsula from 1889 to 1930. It became a summer community for the gentry of Portland, seeking a cool retreat along the ocean. Today, Seaview's quiet, tree-lined streets invite visitors to enjoy a walk past turn-of-the-20th-century Victorian homes. The Long Beach Peninsula is an arm of land that is bounded on the west by the Pacific Ocean, to the south by the Columbia River and the east by Willapa Bay. To the north are Leadbetter Point State Park and Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. Seaview is also near Cape Disappointment State Park and Pacific Pines State Park. The Long Beach Peninsula is known for its continuous sand beaches along the Pacific Ocean, 28 miles in length. It is claimed to be the longest beach in the United States. AS such, it's a very popular vacation destination for people from Seattle and Portland. Many special events and festivals are held throughout the year including the Washington State International Kite Festival, the Sandsations sandcastle sculpting competition, and the annual Rod Run to the End of the World, which attracts thousands of visitors on the weekend following Labor Day.

Seaview Weather & Climate

Oregon's North Coast has the least sunshine of any area in the state but the gorgeous scenery more than makes up for the lack of sunshine. The northwest region is a heavily timbered area with lots of rainfall much of the year, resulting in lush pastures and rich farmland. Along the coast, the average annual snowfall is only one to three inches, with many years in which there is no measurable amount at all. Thunderstorms can occur in the valleys, but are usually not severe. Major flooding occurs in the coastal streams as a result of several days of moderate to heavy rain. Melting of a heavy snow pack on the Coast Range and/or the Cascades greatly increases the flood potential. The only other severe weather conditions on the Oregon coast are hailstorms, which are generally light and cover very small areas, and occasional high winds.
