Snohomish
is a historic city in northern Washington with a population of approximately 9,000 residents. The community of Snohomish calls itself "The Antiques Capital of the Northwest," and prides itself on it's historic preservation. The historic business and residential center of the town constitutes the Snohomish Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many houses have plaques with the year the house was built and the name of the family or individual who originally occupied it. Once every year, the city gives tours of the historic houses; one of them, the Blackman House, is a year-round museum. A general aviation airfield, Harvey Airfield, is less than one mile southwest of downtown Snohomish. The city of Snohomish also has eight city parks, offering everything from boat launch facilities on the Snohomish River to tennis courts, fishing docks, and playground equipment. Also, the Centennial Trail head is located at the intersection of Pine and Maple Avenues in Snohomish. Shopping in Snohomish is a treat, whether browsing one of the specialty shops or antiques stores. The town also has convenient businesses and restaurants that cater to local visitors.

Northwest Washington, near Olympic National Park, ,is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the east by the Hood Canal and on the north by the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the Olympic Peninsula is anchored by the Olympic Mountains. The region is divided into three basic regions: the Pacific coastline, the Olympic Mountains and the temperate rainforest. No other place in the United States can match its diversity in terrain and weather in such a compact geographic area. Therefore, weather in this region is very difficult to define. The coastal areas have mild weather year round with low fog. Mount Olympus receives a large amount of snow. The rainforest receives annual precipitation of about 150 inches, making this the wettest area in the continental U.S. (the island of Kauai in the state of Hawaii gets more rain.)
