Puyallup
is a city located in Pierce County in central Washington. It is approximately five miles east of Tacoma and has a population of about 35,000. Downtown Puyallup has several historic landmarks, including Ezra Meekers mansion, which was home to one of the towns founding families, who made their way to the area via the Oregon trail. Pioneer Park, the towns center, is a community focal point and boasts an impressive new library, a park with a playground and walking paths that wind between shady old trees. Southeast Puyallup is also where the Pierce County Foothills Trail begins. Puyallup is known for its antique shops, many of which are located along Meridian Street. A farmer's market is held every Saturday and Sunday from early May until late October in Pioneer Park, and the largest state fair in Washington is held in Puyallup in September. In fact, the city itself is built around the Puyallup Fairgrounds and serves as an anchor for local businesses and restaurants. There is also an annual "Spring Fair" held for one weekend in April. Other attractions in Puyallup include the Arts Downtown Outdoor Gallery, the Paul H. Karshner Memorial Museum and the annual Daffodil Festival Parade. The parade includes many floats, most of which are covered in daffodils, or are themed in the daffodil season.

Northwest Washington , near the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands, has a fairly temperate climate. The temperature of the salt water surrounding the islands doesnft vary greatly throughout the seasons, so it helps cool the air surrounding the islands. Northwest Washington experiences frequent cloud cover, fog and drizzle. Misty morning will be followed by partial clearing and occasional showers. An umbrella always comes in handy. Evenings are usually warm with a light ocean breeze. Temperatures range from low 30s in winter to mid 80s in summer. Coastal conditions are generally much more harsh than those in the Puget Sound.
