Snoqualmie
is a city located in King County in west-central Washington. As of the 2000 census, the population was 1,631. The city is well known for its' Northwest Railway Museum and Snoqualmie Falls. The city of Snoqualmie is nestled in the heart of the Cascade Mountains, halfway between Seattle and Snoqualmie Pass. Although small, here you'll find small town charm and historic landmarks combined with the amenities of a much larger city. The Northwest Railway Museum also operates a historic depot and a historic railway in the city, and the Snoqualmie Railroad Days Festival has been an annual event for over 70 years. Snoqualmie Falls cascades 268 feet over granite cliffs (more than 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls.) It's a spectacular sight and draws thousands each year. There are many other interesting things to do in Snoqualmie, as well, including unique shops, a variety of restaurants, local arts and festivals, and abundant outdoor recreation. You'll find hiking trails, mountain and road biking, fishing, kayaking and world-class golf. Only 25 miles east is Snoqualmie Pass with downhill ski resorts and cross-country ski trails. The City of Snoqualmie has 34 parks, 25 miles of city-owned trails (separate from trail systems throughout the Snoqualmie Valley), and 540 acres of open space.

Northwest Washington, near Olympic National Park, , is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the east by the Hood Canal and on the north by the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and the Olympic Peninsula is anchored by the Olympic Mountains. The region is divided into three basic regions: the Pacific coastline, the Olympic Mountains and the temperate rainforest. No other place in the United States can match its diversity in terrain and weather in such a compact geographic area. Therefore, weather in this region is very difficult to define. The coastal areas have mild weather year round with low coastal fog. Mount Olympus receives a large amount of snow. The rainforest receives annual precipitation of about 150 inches, making this the wettest area in the continental U.S. (the island of Kauai in the state of Hawaii gets more rain.)
